The All-Ukrainian Conference "New Rules of the Seed Market: The Year of Experience on the Way to the International Practices" took place in Kyiv on August 3, 2017. It was the first event of its kind, being initiated by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Seed Association of Ukraine (SAU) and other participants of the seed market in order to review the innovations in the Ukrainian seed market, the practice of implementation of new rules and the needs for their improvement. Seed Association of Ukraine expresses its gratitude to the organizers and all participants who are working towards a common goal – to make the Ukrainian seed market better!
The Seed Association of Ukraine (SAU) General Assembly took place in Kyiv on the 14th of July, 2017. This event is one of the key moments of the business calendar for its participants, the companies members of the Association, - acknowledged leaders of the seed market.
The Annual General Assembly of the Association members is its highest governing body, bearing strategic importance for the activities of the Association.
Seed Association of Ukraine (SAU) and the companies-members of the association participated in the specialized workshop "Diagnostics of problems of corn". The event was held July 13, 2017 in Kyiv and was organized by the French National Federation of Seed Maize and Seed Sorghum Production (FNPSMS).
IV International Forum on Intellectual Property, IPF-2017, was held in Kyiv on June 7. In the course of the second session of the event, titled "Intellectual property as a business asset", the issue of the legal regulation of plant varieties as objects of intellectual property was brought into attention.
Seed Association of Ukraine welcomes its new members - companies AIC MAIS, VLADAM YUG, and DANUBE AGRO. The decision to take into consideration their applications and to approve them as associate members of the industrial association were introduced at the regular Board Meeting of the association, which took place in Kiev, on June 1st, 2017. Based on its results, the Board members unanimously voted for the companies’ joining Seed Association of Ukraine.
ESA (European Seed Association) welcomes the initiative of the Commission to launch a public consultation on the future of the CAP. The agri-food chain starts with seeds. Plant breeding and seed companies are integral to farming, delivering much needed innovation. We share responsibility with farmers, processors and others to provide food security and deliver innovation and diversity in food, feed and energy production whilst protecting our environment, improving the sustainability of our agri-food chain.
Seed Association of Ukraine will take part in work of the IV International Forum on Intellectual Property, which will be held in Kiev on 7 June. The event will bring together government officials, judges, leading lawyers who work in IP sphere, as well as other industry representatives. This event will be a professional platform for discussing industry problems and finding solutions.
ІІ International Forum on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy “Counterfeiting and Piracy as threats to national security and economy” to be held in Kyiv on April 19 and 20, 2017. A special section of the event will be devoted to these issues in the field of seed production – Round table 4 “Security of The Future: Crops Protection Means and Plant Varieties (Seeds and Plants)”
Seed Association of Ukraine wishes you Happy Easter!
Ukraine has yet to achieve recognition of seed certification system equivalent to EU requirements in order to export seed of its own production to the EU countries and to get full access to the international markets. Thus, in 2011, Ukraine requested the European Commission representatives to perform audit. This inspection, which covered cereal crops: oats, barley, rice, rye, wheat, triticale, as well as corn and sorghum, was conducted by the EU Commission's Directorate General DG Sante in the period from 26th of May to 4th of June, 2015.
